Much industry and academic discussion has centered around the question, “Where have all the hurricanes gone?” The lack of major hurricane landfall in the United states, since the devastating 2004 and 2005 seasons have been treated with a variety of conclusions in scientific and risk modeling circles. This scientific workshop is designed to provide an assessment of the issue of interannual volatility and clusters in hurricane activity. There will be a focus on business-relevant predictability and views of risk on historical, seasonal and multiannual time frames. Proceedings will be developed for internal circulation, as well as the discussion of relevant research projects worthy of RPI2.0 funding, and a summary paper for wider publication.
