Dr. Mark Guishard attended the 32nd Conference on Hurricanes and Tropical Meteorology in San Juan Puerto Rico, April 17-23 2016. This meeting is held every two years and always comprises a full week of talks and discussions. Three quarters of RPI Member companies are represented at this meeting, and other industry representatives, highlighting the importance of this particular event to the field of tropical cyclone research on relevant exposures. During the course of the meeting, some notable themes arose (upon which I will report here).
Throughout the week, I spoke with over a dozen researchers interested in submitting proposals, plus a few more who are interested in collaborating with RPI on events and workshops. RPI Member company representatives were involved with some of these interactions, and provided valuable feedback on how proposed topics could be made more attractive to the industry.
